We, Europfast Internationale Spedition GmbH, handle full truckloads of fresh produce,
so-called refrigerated transport. Our freight routes are within the EU and non-European
countries, such as Turkey, Iraq, and Iran for example:
Fresh produce and frozen food, the shelflife of which depends on being kept permanently
refrigerated, requires constant refrigeration to protect it from spoilage for as long as possible.
The statutory regulations for deep frozen meat and fresh meat govern the temperature zones for
the cold chain of various foodstuffs: Deep frozen meat and frozen fish must be consistently and
permanently refrigerated to -18 degrees Celsius. A maximum temperature of 4 degrees is to be
ensured for fresh meat and 8 degrees for milk and dairy products. Chocolate requires temperatures
of between 15 and 18 degrees. Different temperatures are to be ensured for fruit and vegetables,
depending on type. For example, fresh apples (fruit) are to be transported at between 1 and 4
degrees and mangos at around 12 degrees Celsius. There are correspondingly complex requirements
when it comes to foodstuffs logistics. Refrigerated vehicles therefore often feature a number of
refrigerated compartments with different temperature zones. If there is an interruption in the
cold chain then the foodstuffs that have potentially been spoiled as a result must be destroyed.
Isothermal transportation can either be conducted in special isothermal boxes or in goods vehicles
specially produced and constructed for the purpose because, in the same way as with a thermos
flask, with isothermal transportation the temperature within the goods vehicle must not be lost
to the exterior. That means that in goods vehicles of this type both things and goods, such as
foodstuffs for example, can be either refrigerated or else kept warm. Maintaining a warm
temperature is important, for example, when transporting plants in winter. Plants such as these,
for example, can be transported isothermally from the relatively warm Mediterranean region to
Germany, where winter temperatures are frequently below 0° C., without the plants coming to
any harm.
